If you aren’t caught up on issue #156 of The Walking Dead, now is the time to do so. Not only is this a groundbreaking issue, but it is setting the stage for what is surely to be one of the most captivating storylines going forward.
***WARNING: THE WALKING DEAD COMIC SPOILERS BELOW***
The Walking Dead‘s comic book series got a major swerve in issue #156 when instead of working hard to join The Whisperers it was revealed that he was just trying to earn their good graces to get some alone time with Alpha.
What he did in that time was insane. Negan took his knife and cut her throat, but didn’t stop there. He continued hacking away at her heck until her head was detached, holding it up like a trophy with the intention on showing it to Rick.
While the first thought was about how Alexandria and Rick will react to Negan killing Alpha, it’s easy to forget about the impact this will have on Lydia.

Of course, Lydia was the daughter of Alpha. Even though Alpha allowed some horrible things to happen to her child and Lydia herself didn’t want to go back to The Whisperers, it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction she has to her mother’s murder at the hands of Negan.
Will she be pleased and celebrate that she can move on past that part of her life? Will she hold contempt for Negan for killing her mom? Or will she continue living as if this incident has no effect on her at all?
The one thing we know is that Lydia could use this situation to get even closer to Carl. With them being physically intimate already, it appears as though the two may be inseparable from here on out. If that’s the case and Lydia continues to get in Carl’s head, she could put him at risk with the surrounding territories.

It is doubtful that Lydia will learn the news of her mother’s death in the next issue of The Walking Dead comic series since there is so much else to cover in the meantime. However, this could be a very intriguing situation which could yield very unpredictable results for Negan, The Hilltop, Alexandria, and the Grimes family.
