A popular moment from The Walking Dead’s comic book series that was previously missed on the AMC television show could make an appearance during season 7.

It is no secret that the hit AMC television show The Walking Dead is an adaptation of the popular comic book from Robert Kirkman, Image Comics, and Skybound Entertainment. But that doesn’t mean that everything that happens in the comics happens on the show.

Related Story: Will AMC skip an iconic line from the comics?

In fact, several characters, situations, locations, groups, and more have been changed over the course of 6 seasons to make the story on television more exciting for viewers. Because of that, some moments from the pages of the comics end up on the cutting room floor. However, there is one iconic panel from the comics that could be repurposed using one of the biggest baddies in The Walking Dead‘s universe.

In issue #76 of the comic book, Derek (the leader of The Scavengers) comes right to the gate of Alexandria and demands to be heard. To taunt the people of the community, he uses a classic line from a children’s story.

Here is that panel from the comic book by Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment:

At this point in the television show, The Scavengers would be long dead. In fact, much of their storyline on AMC’s The Walking Dead went to The Wolves and their leader Owen. But with that plot in the past, some comic fans (including myself) were a little disappointed that this moment might not ever grace the small screen.

However, there is hope. Thanks to the season 7 Comic Con trailer for The Walking Dead, it appears as though this scene may still have a chance of happening. During the video, a man with a bat and a figure similar to that of Negan is standing at the gates of the community.

As readers of the comics know, Negan does come to Alexandria to pick out what he wants from the community and exert his dominance over the people. This could be a great opportunity to double back from the story and add in a special treat for fans of the comic book series.

Whether or not that is Negan at the gates or if this line will be incorporated into the scene is unknown, but fans can always hope. Since the show is loosely based on the comics and sometimes things happen out of order, fingers are crossed that this fun moment from the comics will be made available for a broader audience on AMC’s The Walking Dead.
