The Walking Dead Season 7: Reedus says going back to work was different this year
By Susie Graham
Norman Reedus says that going back to work for The Walking Dead season 7 was a different experience for the cast than in past seasons.
Season 6 of The Walking Dead ended with the controversial cliffhanger leaving fans to wonder which of the 11 members of the line-up of characters on their knees in front of Negan is “taking it like a champ” and being beaten to death in front of the rest.
Putting aside the intense fan reaction of having to wait to find out and many complaining that the introduction of one of the best comic book characters of all time being “ruined”, the cliffhanger has implications for the actors as they come back to film the beginning of season 7.
Norman Reedus talked to Entertainment Weekly about coming back this season:
"It was exhausting, and it was no fun. You know, we always come back to this show every season, and we’re like, “Yeah, let’s get back into it!” You know, all the actors are excited to be here and see each other and get back into where they were. But this was one of those where it’s like, “Oh, f—. Here we go.” It was definitely not a joyous reunion. I mean, it was nice to see everybody again, of course, but it wasn’t the same as in previous years."
It’s interesting to remember that last year at the beginning of filming, Michael Cudlitz made a behind-the scenes video on the set and it looked quite joyous. People were hugging and kissing and smiling.

I imagine it was great for them to see each other, but probably difficult to know they were losing a friend and cast member and to have to go to the place they left at the end of the season in terms of acting.
As we know, it’s Negan’s world now. Things are much different this season. We’ve seen the trailer. As Jesus told us last season, the world is about to get a whole lot bigger.
