Robert Kirkman has mentioned that the fans are distracted by the cliffhanger of season 6 of The Walking Dead. That’s understandable. We’ll move forward.

Cliffhanger. Cliffhanger. It is what it is. We’re ready for October. As Gareth and Rick both said, “You can’t go back, Bob.” Season 6 has aired. We’re hanging off the cliff. There’s no do-overs. There’s no crying in baseball!

Robert Kirkman has said that the cliffhanger is distracting fans from what’s coming up. He said it in a way that he was happy about the distraction.

I’m not a comic reader so I don’t look to the comics for what might be coming up in the next season, but I do look to the trailer. I’m not a big speculator, but I like to wonder. I’ve written about the difference between wondering and speculating or predicting. I wonder.

The reason I had a little trouble with the cliffhanger is that it stunted my wondering and my writing this summer. I can’t wonder  as much because this one big event stops the action in its tracks. That’s all that anyone wants to talk about. There wasn’t much to write about this summer because the only thing people wanted to read about was who Negan killed.

"There’s a lot of really great stuff coming. I love that people have been focusing so much on this cliffhanger because it has distracted them from analyzing what happened in the books around that time, and what is possibly coming in the seventh season. It’s pretty great. I mean, Negan has been introduced. He’s going to be this ever-present threat in the show from now on. This amazing 12 minutes that we got in season 6 is going to be nearly every episode now for a while moving forward. We’re going to be expanding the world at the same time. So we’re going to have this huge catalyst, these saviors, this Negan guy walking around doing all kinds of horrible stuff. At the same time, we’re going to be introducing a lot of new characters. We just revealed yesterday that we’re introducing Ezekiel…(Via Screen Rant)"

I’m not a big “what if” person. I don’t want to invest my time in speculating on how things will affect people if some event happens. I wouldn’t write about how the group would react if each person were the victim. When I wonder I like to leave my wondering open-ended.

I was able to wonder a little bit about Hilltop and The Kingdom, but again, nobody really seemed to care. I wonder and hope. I don’t predict. I wonder a little bit about Father Gabriel, but I can only wonder a bit because there’s not much to wonder about except what might he think or do when he finds out about Negan controlling them.

Yes, Mr. Kirkman, the fans are distracted, because, as Abe said, “loose ends make my ass itch”.

P.S. I’m the one who thought the cliffhanger would end after we met Negan and before his speech and beating anyone.
