Maria Bello may join TWD season 8 cast

The Walking Dead really plans ahead. They may have already cast actress Maria Bello in an unnamed role for season 8 of the series.

We just started season 7 of The Walking Dead, it has been officially been renewed for next year, and now we have some casting news about season 8. There is no hint yet on what character Maria will play or if it is a recurring character.

Bello has said she would play a zombie if they would let her. I don’t know much about the comics or what that they are planning to do in season 8. Maria could be playing someone as big as Alpha or someone with a one time role not in the comics, such as Alicia Witt’s Paula or Ethan Embry’s Carter.

Maria Bello may not be familiar to many people, or you may remember her from quite a few different things. She played Anna DelAmico in ER from 1997-1998. As most actors have, she has been in a few Law and Order: Special Victims Units.

I remember Bello from the underrated 2000 movie Duets with Gwenyth Paltrow and Andre Braugher, and Paul Giamatti. The next time I saw Maria Bello was in the movie The Jane Austin Book Club.

I’ve been very impressed with Maria Bello in everything I’ve seen her in–I love her voice. More recently I’ve seen her in small roles in The Fifth Wave and The Confirmation. 

I was thrilled to learn that Maria loves The Walking Dead and I look forward to any role she might play.

"“I am obsessed with the show,” Bello told People magazine. “I have a friend who’s a producer on it and I’ve asked them to write me a part, which apparently they are for next season. Even if I just play a zombie. I said, ‘I’ll just come out and play a zombie for an episode, I don’t care!’ But it is my favorite show.”"

For now, we will learn more about this season’s new cast members as we watch King Ezekiel and Shiva, the knights of The Kingdom, The Saviors and of course, Negan.
