Walker Stalker Con: Jordan Woods-Robinson’s Night of the Rocking Dead
Night of the Rocking Dead was a family affair at Walker Stalker Con Atlanta.
Walker Stalker Con hosted the CD release party for Jordan Woods-Robinson’s new album Anthem. Fans gathered in the Thomas Murphy Ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center for a live performance by Jordan and his band. It was quite a treat!
Some of us were familiar with Jordan’s music and knew very well just how talented he is. Other fans know him more from his role as Eric Raleigh on The Walking Dead and his contagious personality on the Walker Stalker convention floor.
It was so much fun watching some fans discover his musical gifts for the very first time. Many fans did not know quite what to expect from Jordan’s music initially and were beaming by the end of the concert.
And little did we all know that it would be such a family affair.
Who’s that girl?
If you had an opportunity to listen to any of Jordan’s new songs early, you most likely were anxious to find out whose angelic voice that was harmonizing with Jordan. It turns out that it is his beautiful and very talented wife, Julie Woods-Robinson. The pair is a match made in heaven on stage, blending their voices perfectly. What a treat to see the duo performing together.
Jordan’s mother, Cynthia, also played a big role in the event. It was revealed that Ms. Woods actually wrote or co-wrote the lyrics on several songs on the Anthem album, including “Return” and “Slowing Down”.
Jordan is surrounded by talented women, for sure!
Walker Stalker Con family
Jordan also had the support of his Walker Stalker Con family and The Walking Dead castmates at the big event.
Michael Traynor, who played Nicholas on The Walking Dead, came out on stage to introduce Jordan and his band. He later joined Jordan on stage with fellow regular Walker Stalker Con guest, special effects makeup artist, Tate Steinsiek.
Traynor played the tambourine while Steinsiek played bass as Jordan covered Charlie Daniel’s tune “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”. In a hilarious and fitting turn, Jordan replaced ‘the devil’ with ‘Negan’ in the song’s lyrics. It was definitely a crowd-pleaser with a lot of clapping and toe-tapping all around.
Walker Stalker Con co-creator, James Frazier, and Xander Berkeley, who plays Hilltop’s Gregory on The Walking Dead, were also on hand to support their pal Jordan.
Crowd funding family
Much of the audience was made up of fans who helped support the new album financially through a crowd funding campaign. The Anthem album cover cleverly displays the names of contributors.
Fans contributed at a variety of levels offering different perks. One friend of mine enjoyed lunch in the green room with Jordan at the convention in return for her generous support.
Jordan was visibly moved by the outpouring of support for the album’s funding as well as the turnout for the CD release party. It was truly a celebration!
I have to think that is how the album was crowd funded with such success. Jordan Woods-Robinson is truly grateful for his fans and sincerely appreciative of their support. His enthusiasm with fans is off the charts.
