What is Negan going to do with Eugene on The Walking Dead?
By Adam Carlson
Negan took Eugene from Alexandria during the season 7 midseason finale of The Walking Dead, but what does he have in mind for the great scientific mind?
When thinking about the season 7 midseason finale of The Walking Dead, there were a lot of positives to focus on. Daryl returned to the group, they have gained some intel on The Saviors, and the will to fight is back.
However, one of the biggest losses for Alexandria during the episode wasn’t a death at all. Instead, it was the moment Negan decided to take Eugene with him to The Sanctuary as a punishment for Rosita’s actions.
While that may not sound too bad considering Eugene isn’t a ‘combat inclined’, it could have a bigger impact on the war against The Saviors than expected.

Alexandria is already out-manned and outgunned against The Saviors, but not having someone to be able to manufacture ammunition for the weapons they do have is a big problem. Not only does that mean that the survivors will need to find an alternate way to get tools for the fight, but they will have to organize a strategy, which is an area where Eugene could have been helpful.
Sadly, now those assets shift over to The Sanctuary, where Negan will be able to manipulate Eugene into doing his willing through fear, intimidation, and incentive. The scientist will not want to do it, but he doesn’t have the strength of Daryl or even Dwight to withstand the punishment The Saviors can dole out.
Whether or not Negan can gather tactical information on the group from Eugene or persuade him into producing ammunition for The Saviors has yet to be seen, but having that kind of potential at the fingertips of a man like Negan is scary.

More about the situation with Eugene, Negan, and The Saviors will be revealed when The Walking Dead returns from their midseason break in February. Hopefully, Eugene can remain strong in The Sanctuary and make a healthy return to Alexandria quickly.
