The Walking Dead left things in a hopeful place after the season 7 midseason finale, but what might happen after that point according to the comic book?

Sometimes, a glimpse at The Walking Dead comic book series is enough to have a good idea of what is going to happen next on the hit AMC zombie survival drama, but several changes have made much of it unpredictable.

However, there is still a lot of interesting things that can be learned by looking at what happened in the comics and wondering how they can be adapted to the small screen for the hit television series.

The midseason finale didn’t quite end like this part of the comics did, and that might have something to do with the hit AMC show making some creative decisions to make things a little different on the show.

So, let’s speculate on the series of events that will happen next on AMC’s The Walking Dead based on the current storytelling on the show and what happens in the comic book series. Of course, there will be times characters are substituted or created to make the situations make sense.

***WARNING: SPOILERS FROM THE COMICS BELOW***

Keep in mind that this is just speculation about what might happen during the second half of season 7, but here is a fun outline of things which have a chance of being on the show in 2017:

Dwight is captured by the people of The Hilltop where he decides to help their group by giving intel and switching over to their side.

Gregory disagrees about the fight, but Jesus and the people of The Hilltop go against his wishes.

Jesus introduces Alexandria to Ezekiel and The Kingdom and bring Dwight with them. The Hilltop joins the fight.

The stranger from the boathouse watching the group turns out to be friendly and assists in the war against The Saviors.

More from Undead Walking

  • Tara spills the beans about Oceanside to get more weapons and soldiers. (not in the comics)
  • With weapons and personnel, they decide they need to get the jump on Negan for an advantage.

The Saviors make another visit to Alexandria to get supplies. This time, Rick’s people have guns and plan to take out Negan and his men.

  • When trying to leave, The Saviors are stopped by Rick. Sasha shoots two of them from the tower. (Andrea in the comics, should be Michonne…but they already showed she can’t shoot properly)
  • Negan takes the advantage back, but that is when Jesus arrives on the scene with Ezekiel and Shiva to turn the tides once again. However, Negan is able to flee, declaring that it is time to go to war.

That’s just a basic outline. There will likely be many other details filling in the shows. For example, there should be stories based on persuading Carol and Morgan to fight or Eugene being abducted by The Saviors.

Next: What is Negan going to do with Eugene?
