Issue 164 of The Walking Dead to have Image anniversary variant cover

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Image Comics, The Walking Dead issue 164 will have a special variant cover with an homage to WILD C.A.T.S #1.
The Walking Dead has had some amazing variant covers in the history of the comic book series, and that trend appears to be continuing with issue 164 titled “A Fallen House” which will be released on February 15, 2017.
In fact, the variant cover will be in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Image Comics. The Ryan Ottley artwork on issue 164 will be an homage to the Jim Lee work featured on the front of WILD C.A.T.S #1.

There is a LOT going on in this cover and it should be one that fans will want to have in their collection.

Not only does the artwork feature many of the main characters from the series, the entire variant has replaced the characters from WILD C.A.T.S. with those from The Walking Dead universe.
An interesting thing to note on the over is the inclusion of Negan’s bat Lucille, which was destroyed during The Whisperer War and has been laid to rest in a small grave of its own and memorialized.
In addition, seeing Carl Grimes smoking a cigarette is odd. While it wouldn’t be a big deal if he were to pick up that habit in the zombie apocalypse, it is just kind of odd to see the character posing with Lydia in this manner.

The Walking Dead issue 164 will be available in print and digital format on February 15, 2017. It will continue the story of the survivors from The Hilltop, The Sanctuary, The Kingdom, and Alexandria after the war with The Whisperers.
