Dr. Carson paid the ultimate price, his life, for showing interest in Dwight’s  troubles when he returned to the Saviors compound without Negan’s missing wife Sherry

In The Walking Dead episode “Hostiles and Calamities” we are reintroduced to the Saviors’ physician, Dr. Carson. His medical skill set has made him a somewhat invaluable asset to Negan, as we saw in Season 5 with Dr. Steven Edwards who was  the sole practitioner at Grady Memorial hospital.  Dr. Edwards fiercely protected his status of being the only doctor by having Beth administer a lethal dose of drugs killing a potential medical rival that would have threatened Dr. Edwards’ status.

Letting down your guard, having feelings for individual or showing empathy will get you killed.  When Negan began to accuse Dr. Carson of assisting with the disappearance of Sherry it seemed obvious that Dr. Carson and Dwight were going to be identical damaged twins, perhaps sharing  iron war stories.

The anticipation of watching the iron being pulled from the stove and carefully brought to Negan is nerve wracking. The intensity of the iron’s heat can be felt through the television set. Some fans might have turned their heads while still keeping one eye focused on Dr. Carson awaiting his fate.

Negan did not become the leader of the Saviors for being soft . As witnessed with previous kills, he controls the masses through fear of the unexpected.  He never follows the playbook of perfect kills. He enjoys being messy and unpredictable with people’s lives.  For a brief moment Negan gave the impression that the doctor would survive betraying him and not suffer any consequences.

Next: Is Negan planning on taking the Hilltop's doctor?

In the blink of an eye, Negan threw the good doctor into the waiting furnace as a few Saviors watched in shock and utter disbelief and others just stood there with no emotions.

If Gareth was still around do you think Dr. Carson would be  too crispy for him to eat, or do you think maybe he enjoyed his meals well done?
