Image Comics reveal Pride Month variant of The Walking Dead 168
By Adam Carlson
To celebrate Pride Month, the June issue of The Walking Dead comic book series will feature a special variant cover showcasing Jesus and a walker.
For many people, June is a very important month. Not only is it the time that The Walking Dead issue 168 will be released, but many celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month.
Image Comics is getting in on that celebration with a special variant cover showcasing the most prominent homosexual character from the series and a pride flag, as well as a walker who has seen better days.
Here is the variant cover for The Walking Dead 168 titled ‘The Road’s End’ as shared on the official Skybound website:
The Walking Dead isn’t the only comic from Image getting the Pride Month treatment. Their new release Redneck will also get a variant cover that should be quite collectible among fans of the series.
For those unfamiliar with Pride Month, it is a reminder of the Stonewall Riots which occurred in Manhattan during 1969. These riots were a major tipping point in the battle for rights by the Gay Liberation Movement.
Here is what Image Comics and Skybound had to say about the Pride Month variant for the June issues:
"“As we continue to celebrate Image’s 25th anniversary, we’re happy to announce that June’s special variant covers will be themed to “Pride Month.” The variants will serve to celebrate the LGBTQ community and the progress made by the Gay Liberation Movement in promoting inclusivity and support for all. The best part is 100% of the proceeds made from these June Pride variant covers will be donated to Human Rights Campaign!”"
