Known by fans of The Walking Dead for her work as Sasha Williams on AMC’s flagship zombie survival drama series, Sonequa Martin-Green will soon be lending her talents to a new series in another enormous franchise.
It has been revealed that Martin-Green will be playing the character First Officer Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery, and recently fans got a first look at how her and a fellow cast member will look on the CBS All-Access program.

For those unfamiliar with what Star Trek: Discovery is all about, here is a brief description as shared by Wikipedia:
"“Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series, separate from the timeline of the concurrent feature films, Discovery explores a previously mentioned event from the history of Star Trek while following the crew of the USS Discovery.”"
While it is strange that the show will be taking place before the original series in the timeline, it should be fun to watch some of the locations and species pop up from time to time on the new show.
And if that photo wasn’t enough to get fans excited, the first look trailer was also released on the YouTube channel of Star Trek:
CBS All Access is banking on Star Trek: Discovery being popular in order to help their exclusive channel grow. Along with other programs like Big Brother: Over The Top and The Good Fight, they could have another great subscription service to join Netflix, Hulu, and others in the streaming game.
