The Walking Dead: Danai Gurira to appear in Avengers: Infinity War
Following hot on the heels of the Black Panther teaser trailer, now we learn that The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira will appear in Avengers: Infinity War.
This has been a busy week for The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira. The teaser trailer for the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther was just released, and now Deadline reports that Gurira will appear in the next film in the Avengers franchise, Avengers: Infinity War.
Gurira will appear in Black Panther as Okoye, a member of T’Challa’s personal bodyguards. T’Challa is the ruler of Wakanda, an African nation that works to stay off the radar because it is the only place on the planet where you can find the rare metal used to make powerful things like Captain America’s shield. This technologically advanced nation is governed by its leader, T’Challa, who appeared in Captain America: Civil War as the powerful warrior Black Panther.
As Black Panther’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands, so too will the roles of his bodyguards, the Dora Milaje. Gurira’s Okoye is a member of the Dora Milaje and she can be seen in the trailer for Black Panther, which will be out in theaters in February 2018.
The timing of this news is interesting, because Avengers: Infinity War comes out on May 4, 2018, only a few short months after Black Panther. This would seem to suggest that T’Challa and his Dora Milaje will come out of Black Panther ready to join forces with the rest of the Avengers as they take on evil villain Thanos.
There’s no question that Marvel chose the right woman to be T’Challa’s bodyguard. We already know that Danai Gurira can kick some serious Walker ass, so she can handle anything that the Marvel Universe can throw at her.
