Some fun and interesting moments happened during the panel for The Walking Dead season 8 at Comic Con International in San Diego. Here are the highlights!

For many fans of The Walking Dead, Comic Con International in San Diego, California is like Christmas. Some gifts are given right away, such as the trailer for the upcoming season while others are like tickets to an event, like the date for the premiere episode.

Sometimes, the panel itself gets lost in the shuffle. However, having the cast and crew on hand to discuss the past, present, and future of the show as well as discuss filming and tell personal stories can be amazing.

Here are some of the highlights from the panel as shared on the official Twitter accounts of AMC’s The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead:

The panel opened with a tribute to the stuntman who lost his life during an accident while filming season 8. Robert Kirkman and others shared their kind words and thoughts about the tragedy before talking about the show.

Playing Negan has to be fun. Not only does the character get a lot of great lines and does a lot of killing, but there is a certain swagger the character has that could only be captured by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The loss of Glenn still echoes through the universe of The Walking Dead. At least a small part of him still lives on with Maggie and their unborn child. That kid will likely hear many stories of the great deeds done by Glenn.

Kirkman still appears to be hit hard by the death of zombie legend and pioneer George A. Romero. If not for his work, the entire franchise fans have known to love likely would not exist at all.

Nobody wants their characters to go out with a whimper. Much like T-Dog in past seasons used to say, dying from something like an infected cut isn’t nearly as heroic as saving people from walkers or other humans.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan doesn’t mind playing the bad guy. Well, he would prefer it if Negan wasn’t wearing a heavy leather jacket on days while filming in the blisteringly hot Georgia sun.

Carl sure has come a long way from being the curious boy who was sheltered from the outside world by Lori and Rick. Now, he’s learning to stand on his own two feet and be a survivor, much like his father.

The emotional journey these characters take on the show can be very intense. While Ezekiel hasn’t dealt with as much as some of the other survivors, he feels their pain and knows that the only way to move forward is to fight for his freedom and for those who look up to him.

Finally, the family aspect of The Walking Dead was once again hammered home a Norman Reedus talked about how the cast and crew are there for each other and they enjoy being part of such an amazing group.
