‘Old Man’ Rick will be explained early in The Walking Dead season 8

Fans lost their minds after seeing the season 8 trailer of The Walking Dead at San Diego Comic Con, but that confusing final scene will be explained quickly.
Ever since the release of the season 8 trailer for The Walking Dead at Comic Con in San Diego, fans have been curious about the final scene which features Rick Grimes waking up in a bed with a grey beard and flowers next to his bed.
Theories began to fly everywhere about what this means for the television show. Was everything that happened in the show a dream that Rick had while in his coma? Or will there be a jump in time happening in season 8.
That question was posed of creator and executive producer of the franchise, Robert Kirkman by Entertainment Weekly. And, in typical Kirkman fashion, there was no clear answer.
"“That is an intriguing tidbit that we did throw out there on purpose, and we’re hoping that people continue to question how it is that fits into the story line and what it is,” he said. “Comic book fans know where a scene that kind of looked like that would fall, but it also doesn’t seem like we would be getting to that just yet if you were a comic book fan, so there’s a mystery to that.”"

For now, fans are left wonder what exactly this teaser at the end of the trailer means. And Robert Kirkman is just playing along with fans and enjoying the speculation.
"“Or was it the time jump? I don’t know, maybe it was Rick waking up from his coma. Wouldn’t that be weird?”"
Interestingly, it won’t be a long wait before fans find out what this scene will do for the series. Either that, or Kirkman is once again playing with the emotions of his fans much like he loves to do.
"“I’m pretty sure you’ll learn in the first episode what that means.”"
What does this mean for All-Out War? Will the action be skipped in favor of flashbacks? Or is this really Rick waking up from his slumber in the hospital to a world where there is no zombie outbreak at all?
