David Morrissey plays Soccer in Manchester for Offside Trust’s Fundraiser

The Walking Dead’s David Morrissey hit the Manchester Soccer Field for The Offside Trust’s fundraiser celeb game. Playing some Governor-esque Euro Football!
David Morrissey had a grand time playing at Curzon Ashton Football Club in Manchester, England. The Offside Trust, a newly formed organization committed to supporting youth sport sexual abuse and misconduct survivors hosted the fundraiser game.
The Offside Trust soccer game saw both celebrities and football/soccer legends alike taking part in the exhibition. A star-studded list including forever Walking Dead’s Governor David Morrissey, singer Rowetta, actor Ralf Little, Trevor Sinclair, Ian Harte, Graham Stuart, David Dunn, Colin Hendry, Paul Dickov, Ashley Ward, Dele Adebola, Ross Turnbull, Nicky Weaver, Danny Webber and many other popular names taking the field.
David Morrissey and The Offside Trust Background
The Offside Trust was first proposed in response to a series of shocking sexual abuse revelations on November 2016 in British Football. When big name professional athletes discussed their past abuse while waving their right to anonymity.
David Morrissey spoke with Manchester Evening News’ Dianne Bourne about both his excitement toward participating in the game and why he think’s the organization is leading the charge for a greater cause.
David Morrissey on being thrilled to be part of the spectacle football game:
“I’m delighted to be involved in the inaugural Offside Trust match. I’m a huge football fan and can’t wait to take on a team that features some of my Anfield heroes. And what makes it even better is that it’s for such a fantastic cause.”
David Morrissey on what it means to be a father and why he supports The Offside Trust:
“I’m a father, and I want my children to benefit from the fun and life lessons football offers kids, without having to worry about their safety or wellbeing. I’m so grateful for all the Offside Trust is doing, and I hope you will join me in supporting them”
