David Morrissey cast as Mark Antony in Julius Caesar

David Morrissey will play Mark Antony in an upcoming rendition of Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar. The performance will run at the UK’s new Bridge Theatre.

Governor fans, big news if you’re residing over in the land of Big Ben. David Morrissey will be returning to his first home, the stage, in Director Nicholas Hytner’s take on play Julius Caesar. Based around Shakespeare’s piece The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Morrissey will see himself transported back to the time of Rome.

As Mark Antony, Morrissey will be in charge of bringing Rome back together and under stable control after conspirators topple the empire’s lasting foundations with a single motion… The betrayal of Julius Caesar. Despite Antony having conflicts with Caesar on occasion, he remained steadfastly loyal.

David Morrissey’s run as Mark Antony in Julius Caesar Dates

Julius Caesar will run at The Bridge Theatre from January 20, 2018 – April 15, 2018. Joining Morrissey on stage will be David Calder (The Lost City of Z) as Caesar, Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) as the infamous Brutus, and Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones) as Cassius.

Music for the production will be led by musician Nick Powell, composer for productions that have been featured at the West End and Broadway.

Costumes will be made by Christina Cunningham, with Bunny Christie as production designer and lighting by Bruno Poet.

Located at One Tower Bridge Tower Bridge Road, London SE1 2AA, The Bridge Theatre is a brand new commercial theatre.

The theatre is set to officially open on October 18th, 2017 and the residency of London Theatre Company. Its development the result of the hard work of Director Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr. The Bridge Theatre is said to to seat up to 900 audience members, provide production flexibility and cost around a reported £12 million pounds.

Tickets for the upcoming Julius Caesar will range from £15 – £65 with reduced prices for midweek matinees and previews. The play runs two hours with no intervals.

Those that can’t make it to a live performance or outside of the UK can catch the National Theatre Live broadcast on March 22, 2018. You can place your local address at the National Theatre Live website to check your area for upcoming screenings.

New York residents and NYU students will be able to catch David Morrissey in Julius Caesar at NYU’s Skirball Center. NYU’s Skirball Center is currently slated to show the encore presentation of Julius Caesar on March 25th with tickets starting at just $25 dollars.
