Death Stranding’s Hideo Kojima Celebrates Birthday in Style

Death Stranding Director Hideo Kojima celebrated his 54th birthday in true gaming fashion! With a cake decorated and fashioned after the Bridges teaser.
Death Stranding, which stars The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, has set both the gaming world and Daryl Dixon’s fanbase into a frenzy of suspense and questions. Who’s responsible? None other than Game Director Hideo Kojima! Whose infamous friendly prodding of his loyalist fans, results in critical analysis fit for a college thesis paper. The latest viral tool? Why, Hideo Kojima’s very own 54th birthday!
What better way to do some handy promotion than a man’s own candlelit, mysteriously black frosted and star adorned birthday cake? The upcoming PlayStation 4 title, has mostly kept the lid on tight on the narrative. Yet, thanks to the internet, we can speculate down to the last detail, every slice of minutiae.

Ayako, Hideo Kojima’s personal assistant, took to Twitter on August 24th to post the birthday cake in question. An eerie cake stylistically decorated like Death Stranding’s own June Teaser. It all started with ‘Bridges’ the only clue Kojima gave regarding Death Stranding after deciding not to bring it to this year’s E3 Show in LA.

The first thought: will actor Jeff Bridges join Norman Reedus on a cast that has been rumored to also be linked to actress Emma Stone? Then one dives into the full Kojima genius. Think back to the footage. That’s right.
The original Death Stranding World Premiere trailer at the 2016’s Game Award. You might remember, film director Guillermo del Toro playing a character in the game. A character who has a pin with the word ‘Bridges’.
