Cover analysis: The Walking Dead issue 177 New World Order Part 3 of 6
By Adam Carlson
Another new character graces the cover of The Walking Dead issue 177. Don’t miss New World Order Part 3 of 6 when it released in March of 2018.
Even though the New World Order storyline doesn’t start until January, fans have already had the pleasure of seeing three covers from the upcoming story arc in The Walking Dead comic book series.
Sadly, each of the three has been rather intimidating. They are a group like we have never really seen before, with a unique body armor and a seemingly governmental way of dealing with their issues.
Now, the cover for the March 2018 issues has been released and it features another new face and some other things that should have comic readers on their toes. Here is the cover of the March 2018 issue of The Walking Dead according to the official website from Skybound:
The first thing that is easily noticeable from this cover is that the soldier on the front looks like someone you wouldn’t want to mess with in any way at all. Since the book is titled ‘Meet Officer Mercer’, it should be assumed that this is him!
Mercer’s orange/red armor is different from the white suits we’ve seen on the first two issues in the New World Order storyline, making the impression that different color suits might be for performing different tasks.
And Mercer’s task is a pretty clear one. He is stocked to the gills with axes, knives, guns, and anything else he might need when going into combat against the undead or a rival group of humans looking to flight.
The background buildings behind him don’t look immediately recognizable to me. This could mean they are still in Ohio or someplace along the way, However, one thing for certain is that this new group should have every survivor nearby on their toes!
