Part 3 — “Made To Suffer”

1) This webisode shares a name with both the Season Three midseason finale (Wherein Michonne stabs The Governor in the eye) as well as volume 8 of The Walking Dead comics, chronicling The Governor’s assault and the fall of The Prison (Seen in the Season Four midseason finale of the show).

2) Along with The Red Machete, Derek also stole Alyssa’s Walkman(?).

3) Next to the unnamed first owner, Derek has the shortest time with the machete that we’ve seen.

4) Where did Derek’s companions from the previous webisode disappear to?

5) Speaking of them…where did the blood Derek was scrubbing off of the blade come from? It didn’t look that bloody when he took it from Mandy.

6) In a darkly funny coincidence, Derek dies for almost the exact same reason The Red Machete’s original owner did: Stabbing an attacking walker instead of hitting it the head.

7) If the scenes of Derek being attacked and the walker wandering around with the machete in its chest are familiar, it’s because we saw tiny flash-forwards of those scenes at the beginning of “Behind Us”.

8) Joe is the first familiar character in these webisodes (His first appearance since Season Four). Joe is also the first character in these webisodes to speak.

9) Counting the walker he took it from, Joe makes the fifth owner of The Red Machete.

10) Derek, like David, is never formally named in either of the episodes he appears in.

11) This episode may get its name from the largely sad fates of its owners (Up to and including Joe).
