Death Stranding Game Director Hideo Kojima stated, “We’ve never seen a game be made at such as fast pace” in a new interview with Dengeki PlayStation.

According to Ryokutya2089 and Siliconera, Japanese gaming publication Dengeki PlayStation held a year-end interview with several high-profile game developers. One of those game developers was iconic Game Director Hideo Kojima, who’s working on Death Stranding featuring Norman Reedus as the headliner.

Kojima remarked to Dengeki PlayStation that the folks over at Sony Interactive Entertainment have “never seen a game be made at such a fast pace” and “we plan to announce something that will surprise everyone in 2018”. We could be looking at a surprise summer release if this quote is hinting something…

Sony would probably want to release a blockbuster of this level over next year’s holiday season… Yet, they also have The Last of Us: Part 2 currently slated for 2018. They likely won’t want both of their big-hitter titles competing against each other in the hotly contested fourth quarter. The Last of Us: Part 2 won Most Anticipated Game at this years The Game Awards and there’s definitely crossover appeal with The Last of Us’ fanbase and Death Stranding’s, thanks to Norman Reedus.

However, let’s not get too excited for an early Death Stranding release date. While Kojima’s quote certainly gets the questions rolling, many big name titles in the industry have been delayed to improve the experience.

As Nintendo’s legendary game creator Shigeru Miyamoto, once told The Guardian, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad”.

We all want the best Death Stranding experience there can be, even if means a later release date. What we can take away from Kojima’s quote is that the game is advancing smoothly at the moment, without any major hiccups in development. Great news.

Death Stranding The Game Awards 4K Teaser

Death Stranding recently had a newly revamped teaser trailer ready to go for The Game Awards 2017 on December 7. Norman Reedus, who plays Sam in the title, had a strong telling quote in the final minute of the cinematic trailer.

"“Once there was an explosion. A bang which gave rise to life as we know it… And then came the next explosion.”"
