Siddiq’s arrival on The Walking Dead couldn’t really have come at a worse time but he’s got a lot to contribute to the group if Rick accepts him.

Siddiq has probably the worst entrance of all time when it comes to timing on The Walking Dead. Rick never wanted to bother with Siddiq when he and Carl first came across him.

Then Carl went back to where he saw Siddiq to bring him some food and ended up getting bitten killing walkers with Siddiq. And still Carl brought Siddiq back to Alexandria and had him hide in the sewer tunnel until he could convince Rick to let Siddiq join them.

So the first time that Rick properly meets Siddiq is when Carl reveals that he’s been bitten and it happened when he was helping Siddiq. While Siddiq is standing right there. Awkward.

Carl told Rick that he wanted the group to welcome Siddiq. And then it was revealed that Siddiq is a doctor. And doctors are in very short supply in The Walking Dead world. That definitely helps his case to be welcomed into the group. But Rick is now grieving and angry, and it would be easy for that anger to be directed at Siddiq.

Angry Rick Vs. Carl’s Last Wish

Carl’s dying wish was for Rick to put down his gun when the war is over and return to being Farmer Rick like he was in the beginning of season 4. Carl’s vision is for all of the survivors, including Negan and The Saviors, to find a way to live together and work together to build a functioning and peaceful society.

But after losing Carl it’s safe to assume that Rick isn’t going to be putting down that Colt revolver anytime soon. He has a lot of grief and anger to work through. He promised Carl that he would do whatever it takes to make Carl’s vision of society a reality. But will he truly be able to let his mercy prevail over his wrath? And will that wrath get directed at Siddiq?

People Are A Resource, Especially People With Medical Training

Rick may not welcome Siddiq with open arms right away. In fact Siddiq might be better off laying low at The Hilltop for awhile and keeping an eye on Maggie. But eventually Rick will return to his rational state of mind and realize what a valuable asset Siddiq is.

Siddiq can fight very well. He knows how to survive obviously because he’s been on his own for awhile and has managed to stay alive. And he is a doctor. Even though he points out that he was just a resident, a resident is an MD with extensive general medical knowledge.

Even though Siddiq might not have a lot of practical experience treating patients  it’s safe to assume he’s going to get that pretty quickly. As All Out War comes down one last battle between Negan and The Saviors and Rick and the community alliance a doctor who can fight is going to be an extremely valuable resource.

So welcome to Team Family Siddiq. If you can survive that entrance you’ll be just fine on The Walking Dead.
