Georgie was introduced in season 8 episode 12 of AMC’s The Walking Dead, but is her appearance previewing The Commonwealth from the comic book series?

Lately, The Walking Dead has been making quite a few changes to the popular AMC zombie survival drama series that sets it apart from the hit comic book series from Image Comics and Skybound.

Prior to season 8, there some things changed that made an impact on the show including the death of Andrea and creating characters who didn’t previously exist in the comic book world, but the death of Carl has made everything unexpected going forward.

In the comics, a storyline involving The Whisperers comes after the events of All-Out War. However, even that could change and the current story in the comics could become the next big plot.

A six-part series titled ‘New World Order’ is currently introducing the comic world to The Commonwealth, a fully-functioning society of over 50,000 survivors led by a woman named Pamela Milton.

The appearance of a new character during season 8 episode 12 of The Walking Dead has fans thinking AMC’s version of Pamela has been introduced in the form of a woman named Georgie (played by Jayne Atkinson), who wanted to trade information for musical records.

Georgie was joined by two young people named Hilda and Midge who look like they came out of a bootleg version of The Matrix, yet seemed to be clean, well fed, and in need of a lot of creature comforts in the apocalypse.

On the surface, there are a few similarities, but this doesn’t seem like the same kind of story at all.

The Commonwealth is in Ohio in the comics. The shift in location is possible, but that doesn’t explain several things fans have noticed from the group in the comics. In addition, sending the group’s leader to trade for records seems like a horrible idea for any community, especially one which has enjoyed success in the past.

Also, one of the things that set The Commonwealth apart from other communities is their soldiers. In the comics, they wear body armor like the stormtroopers from Star Wars and are well-trained and organized.

Of course, this could be a re-imagined version of The Commonwealth for the show where they take more chances and look drastically different, but for now, viewers of the AMC show shouldn’t jump to conclusions that the show is going to make a massive jump in the comic timeline and jump to the ‘New World Order’.
