The Walking Dead season 8 finale will be extra long and it will feed directly into the extended Fear The Walking Dead season 4 premiere.

On The Walking Dead, All Out War is swiftly coming to a close and Negan and Rick head towards a final showdown in the season 8 finale. The episode, titled ‘Wrath’, is sure to call back to the season opener called ‘Mercy’.

One of the themes that have been recurring throughout the season is the struggle to hang on to humanity in the face of loss, anger, and hatred. When Siddiq was introduced he mentioned a quote from the Quran, “My mercy prevailed over my wrath” that his mother used to say as a prayer “May my mercy prevail over my wrath.”

Carl’s dying wish was that Negan and Rick would call a truce and find a way to live together. Presumably, this is going to come into play in the season 8 finale ‘Wrath’ as Negan and Rick face off for the final time.

Their showdown is going to be one of the most intense moments of the season and it will play out in an extended episode. According to ComicBook, The Walking Dead season 8 finale will have a run time of 80 minutes. Immediately after The Walking Dead the extended premiere of Fear The Walking Dead season 4 will air. That episode is also extended with a runtime about the same length as The Walking Dead finale.

Morgan’s Crossover

It’s unusual for the Fear The Walking Dead premiere to air directly after The Walking Dead. But as season 8 of TWD ends Morgan Jones will be leaving Rick’s group and crossing over to Fear The Walking Dead.

Airing the two shows directly after one another will seamlessly link them and allow fans to follow Morgan as he heads off on his own and finds his way to Texas. There he will run into Madison, Alicia, Nick and the others. Fans will see what happened to the Fear characters as flashbacks that cover the time jump and bring the two stories to a concurrent timeline.

The Walking Dead Fathom Event

You can find local theaters that are participating and get tickets here.
