One to watch out for: Daryl

Daryl has become dangerous. While surely, we still love him, he has been drifting away from the group for the better part of the last two seasons. He has acted impulsively and unilaterally, and by and large, it has only led to negative setbacks.

That’s not to say he doesn’t carry the weight of his actions. Glenn’s death will be forever his to own, and he is fully aware that going “off-book” on the Saviors’ compound siege contributed to the total loss of Alexandria.

Now, he is bent on righting another perceived wrong: trusting Dwight. Daryl’s history with Dwight is complicated and peppered with doubts. Dwight, after all, murdered Denise with HIS crossbow.

Later on, Dwight became his jailer and torturer. After escaping capture though, he chose to trust Dwight’s intentions and collaborate with him on a plan to overthrow the Saviors. When Dwight later returned to the Saviors, however, Daryl chose to ignore Tara’s insistence that it was to help them evade capture in the swamp.

Now that Tara has been wounded, Daryl is actively gunning for Dwight (again). That puts him on another potential “lone wolf” path and historically, those missions have not ended well for the group.
