The time has finally come during season 8 episode 14 of The Walking Dead. Savior Jared is no more as Morgan finally sealed not only his fate but the Saviors who escaped The Hilltop.

Episode 814 of The Walking Dead titled, ‘Still Gotta Mean Something’ gave viewers some closure regarding Negan and Jadis, but more importantly putting the final nail in the Savior coffin.

While we watched Jadis’ attempts to signal a helicopter and a bewildered tied down Negan; Rick and Morgan teamed up to find the escaped Saviors. Initially Morgan left The Hilltop with Carol who had her doubts if Henry was still alive.

Clearly Henry reminds Carol of when she lost her daughter Sophia back in season 2 and the unfortunate outcome. With her new-found strength to search for Henry (after some convincing words by King Ezekiel before leaving) she made it her mission to find him alive.

However Morgan, who continues to battle illusions and voices, cannot join her. Setting his own course to kill the Saviors once and for all he bumps into Rick (donned in what fans are considering his ‘murder jacket/coat’).

Since season 1, Rick and Morgan had a unique bond. Both had seen each other at their worst and never let said actions destroy their friendship.

Though brief, we saw Rick try to calm the hostile Morgan who was afraid Rick was nothing more than another ghost. Morgan admitted he was struggling to which Rick understood and the two continued into the woods without missing a beat.

Their plan doesn’t go as planned as they are captured and bound. Jared, taking the role as leader of the small group of escapees tries to convince them to return to The Sanctuary with Rick and Morgan in tow.

Even though they bore witness to Simon’s abandonment, Jared believed Negan would welcome them back when he sees they brought Rick.

Check out the video of Jared’s final moments as he becomes a gruesome walker feast in this week’s Talked About Scene from The Walking Dead as shared on the official YouTube channel of AMC:

Rick and Morgan warn them that walkers are coming. Rick even gives the group his word that if they let them go they can all go back to The Hilltop.

More from Morgan Jones

Jared isn’t easily fooled but before the men argue amongst themselves the walkers arrive. Rick and Morgan are released only to kill The Saviors without a second thought.

When both men are separated Morgan becomes distracted by another illusion just in time for Jared to make his move. Getting the upper hand, Morgan traps Jared with only a metal gate separating them as walkers approach from behind the long-haired Savior.

Morgan grabs Jared in a tight death grip prohibiting his escape as walkers feast upon him. Later that evening Rick and Morgan return to The Hilltop with the others waiting.

Reunited with Henry, Morgan assures him that Jared (the man responsible for killing Benjamin) was dead. Rick returns to his room where he finds Michonne and Carl’s letter that he had yet to read.

Next: Who got in the car with Negan?

The ending of this episode was all smiles for Negan as he returned to The Sanctuary after Jadis let him go. Negan picked up a mystery passenger and made it a point to instruct the Savior at the gate to not tell anyone, “Daddy’s home”.
