Power Pair for Fear The Walking Dead episode 401 What’s Your Story
A new season of Fear The Walking Dead is upon us with some new characters to boot. Who earned the title of Power Pair for the premiere episode of season 4?
For a good part of the first episode of Fear The Walking Dead season 4, we only have one character on-screen. Morgan is by himself a good part of the time. He travels from Georgia to Texas with his trusty stick in tow.
Interestingly, after arriving in Texas, he finds himself in earshot of another loner. Meet new character John Dorie. John has not heard words come from his own mouth for some time, much less from someone else’s.
One might think that these two loners would be perfect travel companions. In fact, John believes just that. It is Morgan who is not interested in attachments.
So, how can two people earn the title of Power Pair if they are not really hanging out together? I’ll tell you how. It happens when someone like John Dorie simply does not give up. John follows after Morgan time and time again, even when it might not seem in his best interest.
While John Dorie specifically distinguishes himself from the fish Dory from Finding Nemo, I cannot help but be reminded of the forgetful fish telling Marlin to “just keep swimming”. It’s as if John Dorie (with an “ie”) is using the same mantra when he persists in the pursuit of a friendship with loner Morgan.
John’s persistence does finally pay off and Morgan agrees to travel with John and fellow newcomer Althea in her S.W.A.T. vehicle. The three are heading onward as a group when they encounter familiar faces from days gone by.
Alicia, Nick, Luciana, and Victor pull guns on the three new friends and the episode comes to a close.
Another thing I find ironic about John Dorie is that he does not seem to be nagging Morgan for help. John is quite capable himself. He is a sharp shooter wielding an antique pistol. But he is also missing someone named Laura.
Morgan and John help other fight walkers as well as nefarious humans. And it looks like they just might become friends, too.
