Skybound announces SDCC 2018 panel schedule

Skybound is hosting a series of panels at San Diego Comic-Con featuring The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and other talented creators.

The Walking Dead creator and Skybound Chairman Robert Kirkman will take part in three Skybound panels at San Diego Comic-Con in addition to the panels dedicated to his two AMC television series. The Skybound panels feature a look at what’s coming up with Skybound and an inside look at being a comic book creator.

The first of three panels focuses on Robert Kirkman’s vast body of work in a variety of mediums. The What’s Next panel takes us into Skybound’s upcoming projects, including the development of Skybound’s new game studio. The final panel is the Comics and Creators panel, which is a forum for some of Skybound’s biggest names to share their experience and insight into the industry.

Here are Skybound’s descriptions of their SDCC panels:

"In Conversation with Robert Kirkman: Join prolific comic book creator, writer and executive producer Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Oblivion Song) as he discusses his work across comics, TV and film, including his newest comic book series Oblivion Song. (July 19, 2018 / Room 6A)Skybound Entertainment: What’s Next: Join Skybound Chairman Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Oblivion Song), CEO David Alpert (The Walking Dead franchise, Outcast), Skybound North CEO and partner Catherine Winder (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics) as they discuss what’s next for the company behind building one of the most successful media franchises in pop culture history, The Walking Dead. They will also be joined by Skybound Games’ Ian Howe who will discuss what’s to come for Skybound’s first game studio. The panel will be moderated by Ify Nwadiwe. Though all three panels take place in large rooms, they will be much more intimate than the massive Hall H and Ballroom 20 venues, allowing for interaction with the audience.

Robert Kirkman will be a busy man at San Diego Comic-Con. In addition to his Skybound panels he will appear on both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead panels on Friday, July 20. Skybound hosts an offsite location for industry reps and special guests, and this year Skybound is promoting The Quotable Negan by sponsoring a Negan cosplay meetup on Saturday, July 21.

It’s almost certain that the Walking Dead Day festivities will come up in the panels. Walking Dead Day takes place this October 13 in celebration of the series’ 15th anniversary and features blind bags of comics and other special merchandise for the occasion. It’s not likely that Kirkman will discuss The Walking Dead or Fear the Walking Dead in the Skybound panels, but they could always pop up as he talks about Skybound’s future projects and upcoming comic book arcs.
