Conclusion

Having to choose just five characters who have a lot to prove come October was difficult. Almost every single character, even minor ones have a lot of room to grow.

These do include Alden, Maggie, King Ezekiel, and Dwight. However, in the end, the list above was compiled with a lot of thought and consideration.

Perhaps after the season 9 trailer is dropped there will be a lot of clarity and less speculation. Will the show jump several years or pick up right where it left off?

The characters will have to face the unknown and prove not only to themselves but the people they are surrounding themselves with whether it be willingly or by force. Trust is probably the most fragile thing to exist in the apocalypse.

It could very well be the best decision someone makes or the worst. But trust is the common theme all five share.

They have to trust that once all secrets are out in the open, that there will be some sort of acceptance and understanding. They have to trust others with their lives.

Understandably they have to deliver. Lines are beginning to blur between who are the heroes and villains if indeed the next threat is who many fans are predicting will be arriving soon.
