The Walking Dead alumni Sabrina Gennarino to join The Purge TV series

The Walking Dead’s Tamiel, Sabrina Gennarino, is set for a role in the highly anticipated The Purge TV series produced by Blumhouse.
Actress Sabrina Gennarino is joining one of the hottest film properties to hit Television in a long time, The Purge. Tamiel’s scavenging days might be at an end on AMC’s The Walking Dead but Gennarino’s time as character Madelyn on The Purge is just beginning. The Purge television series is set to be broadcast on both USA Network/Syfy with a debut date of Sept. 4, 2018. Blumhouse are bringing out the surefire ratings cannons for this project with The Purge’s original creator James DeMonaco both writing and executive producing the TV series iteration of his films.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, joining DeMonaco will be original film executive producers Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form and Sebastien K. Lemercier. Thomas Kelly, known for writing/producing television shows Blue Bloods and Copper is The Purge’s showrunner/executive producer.
Gennarino expressed great joy at being cast in The Purge’s high-profile upcoming TV series:
"I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of this television series. The films of The Purge franchise are a tremendous success, and it is an honor to now be a part of the series with such an amazing and talented cast and crew."
The 10-episode first season will see DeMonaco writing the series premiere with Emmy winner Anthony Hemingway directing the pilot. Joining Gennarino on The Purge will be fellow cast members Gabriel Chavarria (Hulu’s East Los High), Lili Simmons (Banshee), Lee Tergesen (Oz), Jessica Garza (Six), Amanda Warren (Power), Colin Woodell (The Originals), Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw) with reoccurring roles for William Baldwin (MacGyver), and Fiona Dourif (Cult of Chucky).
Along with The Purge, Gennarino recently starred in TNT TV series Claws and short film Death of an Umbrella Salesman. UndeadWalking.com had an opportunity to interview Gennarino about Death of an Umbrella Salesman where she reunited with cast and crew from back early in her career. Gennarino is currently set for a role in Pollyanna McIntosh’s upcoming film Darlin’ which is a sequel to 2011 film The Woman.

Gennarino is currently on her way over to London (for the first time!) for the London Film and Comic Convention set from July 27 – July 29. She’ll be attending all three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
