The Walking Dead: Seth Gilliam posts touching photo of Andrew Lincoln
Seth Gilliam posts a heartwarming photo of Andrew Lincoln from the set of The Walking Dead and we’re not crying, you’re crying.
The October 7 premiere of The Walking Dead season 9 isn’t that far away, but seeing tributes to Andrew Lincoln amid news of his departure makes some fans wish for more time before they have to say goodbye. The Walking Dead shared one of Seth Gilliam’s photos on their social media and the image is enough to bring tears to your eyes.
Gilliam captured a tender moment between Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira and Lauren Cohan on the set of the show, presumably during season 9. The trio are in costume and they look to be standing in the aftermath of a battle, or possibly at a Sanctuary construction site. They’re hugging each other, and while we can’t see Lincoln and Gurira’s heads, the emotion of the moment is evident on Cohan’s face.
Take a look at the touching moment:
It’s looking more and more like San Diego Comic-Con was the last time fans will see Andrew Lincoln together with the cast for now, as he isn’t currently scheduled for any upcoming Walker Stalker Conventions in the near future. With that in mind, the cast at SDCC paid tribute to him during the panels and in interviews. Norman Reedus noted that he still slips Lincoln scripts from the show so that they can talk them through.
Sadly, Lincoln isn’t the only member of the cast to depart in season 9. Lauren Cohan will also leave the show, but unlike Lincoln there is a chance that Cohan’s Maggie can return in the future because Maggie’s story is “open-ended.”
As we approach the season 9 premiere we’re sure to see more tributes roll in to celebrate Lincoln’s contributions to The Walking Dead, so be sure to keep the Kleenex handy because there will be tears.
The Walking Dead returns October 7 on AMC.
