Overall impression of TWD 907

Much like previous seasons of The Walking Dead, the episode before the midseason finale is typically one filled with plot-driven storylines and characterization to set up an explosive or interesting installment.

This one was no different, with more time being spent learning about Magna’s group, the situation at The Hilltop, checking in on some other characters, and putting into place a venture into the woods to search for Eugene.

Because of this, there wasn’t much action during the episode. Other than Dog being surrounded by walkers and a quick battle involving the group heading to The Hilltop, time was devoted to strengthening dialogue and developing relationships between the survivors.

Despite that, there was never a feeling like this episode was filler. Since everything felt new and some of the reveals were a bit surprising, the setup for the midseason finale feels firmly in place a for a possible face-off between the survivors and these interesting talking threats within the walker groups.

Still, I enjoyed season 9 episode 7 but don’t feel it has a ton of value for multiple watches. Despite that, it is still a strong part of what has been an amazing season so far and should make everyone excited for what is to come next week.

EPISODE GRADE: 7.2/10
