4. Jesus Stands Up To Gregory

Season 7, “Go Getters”

This was a great scene for Jesus as well as for Maggie. Jesus, whose easygoing nature sometimes irritated the people around him, finally took a stand with Gregory. After Maggie and Sasha took refuge at The Hilltop following the murders of Glenn and Abe Gregory didn’t want them there. When The Saviors came he told Jesus to hide Maggie and Sasha in a closet. Jesus did, but in a different closet than the one Gregory indicated.

That’s because Jesus must have sensed that Gregory was up to his usual double-crossing behavior. Gregory would have given up Sasha and Maggie to Simon, but they weren’t in the closet he thought they were in. After The Saviors had gone Gregory confronted Jesus who stood up to Gregory and insisted that Maggie and Sasha were staying. He also responded to Gregory’s threat of kicking him out and told Gregory that Gregory wasn’t going to be in charge anymore and that no one was leaving The Hilltop.

And Gregory, like the coward he was, instantly backed down. Who wouldn’t have backed down from a fight Jesus? Jesus tried to stay neutral in most conflicts but once he took a side that side was always the winning side.
