14. Michonne Brings Baby Formula To The Prison
Episode 3, “When The Dead Come Knocking”
When Michonne left Andrea at Woodbury, she was understandably hurt by Andrew choosing to stay. But Michonne knew that The Governor was a time bomb. He wasn’t going to let her go cleanly though. She was injured and not in a great head space. After she stumbled on Glenn and Maggie getting kidnapped by Merle and leaving behind the basket of baby formula that they had found for tiny infant Judith, she could have just kept going. Michonne could have just made herself more pet walkers and tried to get as far away as she could.
But Michonne knew that Maggie and Glenn must have been part of a group, a group that had a baby. And she chose to take a chance that the new community would be a good one. She chose to bring the baby formula to the gates of the prison knowing there was a baby in there that needed it. Michonne couldn’t have known if the group was a bad one or a good one, but she made the heroic choice to find out and to possibly help some people instead of just going back out alone. And she managed to get some help for herself too.
That decision changed the entire path forward for Michonne. Years later, she’s had the chance to have a fulfilling relationship with her soul mate and she now is mom to that little girl that she helped save by bringing that baby formula to the prison. Michonne also has a son with Rick who will hopefully get to meet his father someday.
