The Walking Dead artist Tony Moore shares his Spider-Verse creation
By Adam Carlson
The Walking Dead is a massive phenomenon and the recent success of Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse is amazing. But what if a TWD artist created a Spidey?
Award-winning artist Tony Moore provided his fantastic artwork to The Walking Dead during the early days of the comics, providing all the visuals through issue 24 as well as the covers of the first four trades and some variants.
It is fair to say that Robert Kirkman working with Tony Moore is a great reason the popular comic book series got off to such a hot start and he got so many fantastic opportunities and creations following his work on the zombie comic.
Recently, Marvel Comics hit the jackpot with Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse which recently won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. The movie features many takes on the web-slinger from different universes coming together to help Miles Morales battle a massive threat to the world.
In honor of the success of the movie, Tony Moore took to his Twitter account to share his creation to enter the Spiderverse. Check out that image:
Considering all the variations of Spiderman in the movie, this is a fun take to spin on the character. Adapting from his “Colonel” nickname, the web-slinger is dressed up like the KFC mascot, wearing a white classic southern-style suit with the signature hairstyle and glasses. Of course, the classic mask is still donned by the hero but is more subtle than in other versions of the character.
A close look at the character shows the tie, shirt, and coat come together to form a take on the Spiderman logo, which is a creative and amusing addition to the piece.
“Colonel Spiders” added this spidersona by jokingly calling it dumb, but the fun nature of the artwork and taking the time to draw something for the fun of it shows the passion he has for his craft and the enjoyment he gets out of the little things.
What would your spidersona be if you were to create one? And what do you think of Tony Moore’s take on Spiderman? Let us know what you think in the comments section! In the meantime, check out some of these other great takes on the web-slinger thanks to Bleeding Cool!
