The Walking Dead issue 187 tops weekly Comixology bestseller list
By Adam Carlson
Some big things are going down at The Commonwealth and The Walking Dead readers flocked to Comixology for the Jan. 2019 installment of the popular comic.
Image Comics and Skybound just got done celebrating their 15th anniversary of The Walking Dead comics and to start their 16th year they kicked things off with a major bang in the January issue of the series.
According to Bleeding Cool, issue 187 was the top-selling digital issue on Comixology for the week of Jan. 4, 2019, beating out several popular and heavily anticipated Marvel and D.C. comics being released in that time frame.
The zombie survival drama beat out long-running comics like Action Comics and Detective Comics, as well as new releases such as Conan the Barbarian, Champions, and Infinity Wars: Infinity, proving there is still a massive market for the issue.
It wasn’t surprising to see The Walking Dead on the top of the list considering there was a major death in issue 186 and it left two main characters in a situation where anything could happen in the undead apocalypse with so much happening at The Commonwealth.
Lately, the comic has been surprising and intriguing enough to stay relevant and fresh while introducing new characters and new locations., making it a must-read on a monthly basis.
Here are the top five selling issues on Comixology according to Bleeding Cool:
- The Walking Dead #187
- Heroes in Crisis #4
- Action Comics #1006
- Detective Comics #995
- Uncanny X-Men #8
Congratulations to Image Comics and Skybound for beating out the major publishers on Comixology digital sales and making The Walking Dead the top-selling digital comic on the platform during the week of Jan. 4, 2019.
