By Adam Carlson
Volume 29 of The Walking Dead was among the top-selling graphic novels or collections of 2018, proving the selling power of the zombie survival comic.
Last year was a great year for The Walking Dead comics. Many new characters were introduced, new settlements were explored, and shocking moments happened in 2018 and those developments have kept a strong audience while word of mouth has brought in some new readers.
Recently, The Hollywood Reporter released a list of Diamond Comics’ top-selling comics of 2018 and the zombie survival drama series was included on the list of the graphic novels and collections which were ordered the most.
Here are the top 10 selling collections:
- The Infinity Gauntlet (Marvel Entertainment)
- Saga Vol. 9 (Image Comics)
- Saga Vol. 1 (Image Comics)
- Saga Vol. 8 (Image Comics)
- Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman (DC Entertainment)
- The Walking Dead Vol. 29: Lines We Cross (Image Comics)
- Paper Girls Vol. 1 (Image Comics)
- Batman: White Knight (DC Entertainment)
- Dark Nights: Metal Deluxe Edition (DC Entertainment)
- Monstress Vol. 1 (Image Comics)
It’s not surprising to see The Infinity Gauntlet at number one. However, seeing six of the top ten collections of graphic novels belonging to Image Comics with the number six collection being Vol. 29: Lines We Cross has to be impressive to readers who follow the story of Rick Grimes and the other survivors of the zombie apocalypse.
Vol. 29 was released on Mar. 7, 2018 and contains issues 169-174, which includes the trip from Alexandria to The Commonwealth as well as the debut of Princess, one of the most interesting and unique characters ever to debut in the comics pages.
Congratulations to The Walking Dead on having Vol. 29 of their popular comic book series being included among the best graphic novels and collections of 2018. Plus, a nod goes out to Image Comics, for having such an amazing presence on the Diamond list.
