Greg Nicotero of The Walking Dead to direct the first Creepshow episode
By Adam Carlson
Greg Nicotero has directed some great episodes of The Walking Dead and he will be tasked with directing the first episode of Shudder’s Creepshow TV series.
Fans of The Walking Dead have enjoyed some great episodes which were directed by executive producer and special effects guru Greg Nicotero. He also has an impressive resume over the course of his career covering film and television as well as other practical effects.
Soon, more of Nicotero’s work can be seen on the Shudder streaming service when an adaptation of Steven King’s Creepshow will be premiering. In fact, TVWeb is reporting that Nicotero will the director of the series premiere.
Those familiar with The Walking Dead will know that Nicotero has tackled some of the biggest episodes in the series, being behind the camera for 27 episodes which include many season and midseason premieres and finales which pulled at the heartstrings of viewers.
The first season of Creepshow will be six episodes long and will vary in length and tone. Viewers can expect some terrifying and interesting stories. One example is an episode which will be titled “Survivor Type” which has an interesting plot summary:
"“The story centers on a disgraced surgeon by the name of Richard Pine. Whilst trying to smuggle a bunch of heroin on a boat, disaster strikes and, after narrowly escaping with his life, Pine finds himself marooned on an island. He begins to document his experience in a logbook and, as the reader discovers, not only does he slowly descend into madness, but he winds up doing some unthinkably hideous things to survive.”"
It should be exciting to see these new stories brought to life under the umbrella of one of the most interesting Stephen King properties out there. Plus, it’s fun to see Nicotero working on the program after his tribute on the AMC zombie survival drama series.
At this time, there is no official release date for season 1 of Creepshow on Shudder. However, it is expected that it will have a 2019 release. And with Greg Nicotero kicking off the show, it seems like something many fans of The Walking Dead might be interested in.
