The Fear the Walking Dead family is getting bigger in season 5 as Once Upon a Time alum Karen David joins the cast as a series regular.

You might have seen Karen David when she appeared as Princess Jasmine on Once Upon a Time, but David is leaving the sandy dunes of Agrabah behind to take on the bleak post-apocalyptic landscape of Fear the Walking Dead. Deadline reports that David is joining the cast in season 5 of the AMC original series based on the world of The Walking Dead.

David was born in India, is an avid world traveler who also counts singing and songwriting in her vast repertoire. Recently she starred in Galavant and the new CW hit show Legacies.

Though details about her role are scarce, David will play a character named Grace on Fear the Walking Dead. The last time we saw the group of survivors at the end of season 4 they were about to embark on a roadtrip to find other survivors, so it’s likely that Grace will show up as a result of their search and rescue missions. David already has a connection to Fear the Walking Dead, as showrunner Andrew Chambliss was the executive producer on Once Upon a Time while she was on the show.

David is the second new cast member to be announced after earlier news that The Walking Dead’s Austin Amelio is crossing over from the original show to the companion series. Returning Fear the Walking Dead cast members include Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Lennie James, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman, Garret Dillahunt, Alexa Nisenson, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Mo Collins.

On a side note I recently visited the set of Fear the Walking Dead in Austin, Texas. AMC was kind enough to fly me out for a set visit, and though I’m sworn to secrecy about what’s coming up in season 5 I can tell you that the excitement about the upcoming season is palpable.

Next. Season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead coming to Hulu. dark

As of this writing no premiere date has been announced for season 5, but with The Walking Dead wrapping up its ninth season at the end of March it’s more than likely that fans will be receiving more information about the new season soon.
