Fear TWD: Alexa Nisenson promoted to series regular
More casting news comes for Fear the Walking Dead as Alexa Nisenson is promoted to series regular for the show’s upcoming season 5.
The Fear the Walking Dead family continues to grow as Alexa Nisenson is promoted to series regular for season 5, just a day after newcomer Karen David was also named as a series regular for the post-apocalyptic companion series to The Walking Dead. Nisenson joined the cast in season 4, bringing troubled pre-teen Charlie to life with amazing maturity and poise.
Charlie has been a divisive character since her debut on Fear the Walking Dead. The youngster found herself torn between helping her Vulture family and betraying the Clarks, and later she shocked the fandom when she shot and killed Nick Clark after he killed the only remaining member of the Vultures, who was also her caretaker. (In fairness, actor Frank Dillane wanted to leave the show so his character was going to be killed off somehow. No one expected to see Charlie pull the trigger.)
Later, Charlie found herself stranded in a hurricane with Alicia, who was the last person she wanted to be stuck with. Over the course of the storm the two young women forged an uneasy truce and an eventual bond.
Playing Charlie is no easy task given the complexities of a character who lost her family, lost her surrogate family, killed someone who cared about her and then formed a bond with his friends. It’s a huge role, and Nisenson absolutely nails it.
While fans have yet to learn what’s in store for the group in season 5, I can tell you that when I visited the Fear set at the end of February that big things are coming and everyone is really excited about the new season. Knowing that we’ll be seeing more from Nisenson makes it all the more thrilling because she is such a dynamic young actress.
