Cover analysis of The Walking Dead issue 193: The Farm House

The cover for issue 193 of The Walking Dead comics features something much different from the chaos fans have been reading about recently.

The story involving the chaos at the Commonwealth has been the focus of The Walking Dead comics for several issues now, but it appears as though the focus will soon be shifting to a different part of the area soon.

A recent release of the IMAGE comic solicits from June 2019 shows that the cover for issue 193 will be a bit of a departure from the city streets fans have grown accustomed to seeing over the last few issues.

Take a look at the cover for issue 193 of The Walking Dead titled “The Farm House” as shared on the official Image Comics website:

If you’re like me, the first thing your mind jumped to when seeing this cover is Negan, who has been living in an isolated world. There is a good chance that if the situation at the Commonwealth wraps up that the next look will be at what the former leader of the Saviors has been up to since his breakdown in front of Maggie.

While it would be nice to see Negan again, this isn’t a guarantee that he is the one being hinted at by this cover. The issue description reads “Out in the countryside, trouble is brewing for a certain someone” and that someone might be someone taking up residence in the country or someone getting kicked out of the group.

Speculation aside, let’s take a moment to address the beautiful artwork done on the farmhouse, trees, fence, and even the grass. The pale colors against the bright sky with the dark, reddened body (is that a walker or a ratty Negan?) approaching on the side makes for one of the most visually appealing covers The Walking Dead has done to date.
