The Walking Dead was well represented at the GEICO 500, with Josh McDermitt from the popular AMC zombie show having a part in the race’s festivities.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that fan-favorite Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead would be acting as the honorary pace car driver for the GEICO 500 at Talladega Speedway. However, he wasn’t the only individual from the popular undead drama to have a role in the day’s festivities.

During the event which took place on Sunday, Apr. 28, Josh McDermitt served as an honorary official for the race according to Speedway Digest and took part in pre-race festivities on the stage.

McDermitt is known for his role as Dr. Eugene Porter on The Walking Dead, as a survivor who uses his intelligence to not only protect himself but also look after those he cares about while trying to find others trying to make their way in the zombie apocalypse.

He can also be seen in The Loudest Voice, Life in Color, and Middle Man as well the completed shows Retired at 35, Mad Men, and the Twin Peaks revival. Also a comedian, McDermitt shined on Last Comic Standing and @midnight while being a very entertaining guest on Talking Dead.

The GEICO 500 is the 100th race held at Talladega Speedway in the NASCAR premier series, making this an excellent occasion to celebrate not only the presence of talent from The Walking Dead being in attendance but the historical aspect of the race itself.
