2019 continues to be an epic year for Colman Domingo as Vineyard Theater prepares to celebrate the Tony- and Olivier- nominated Colman Domingo at a May 6 gala. Domingo is known to Fear the Walking Dead fans as everyone’s favorite Renaissance Man of the apocalypse, the always enigmatic and smooth talking man of opportunity known as Victor Strand. Never one to rest on his laurels, Domingo is always busy and this time the actor-playwright is being lauded for all of his work in the theater world.

There’s no shortage of stars coming out to celebrate Domingo and his many accomplishments. Leslie Odom, Jr., Sarah Stiles, Ngozi Anyanwu, Kathryn Erbe and DJ Crystal Clear are the latest stars to join the previously announced lineup which includes Andre Holland, Brandon Victor Dixon, De’Adre Aziza, Ariana DeBose, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Forrest McClendon, Alex Newell, Harris M. Turner, Sharon Washington, Daniel J. Watts and Christian Dante White.

Domingo has enjoyed a long relationship with the Vineyard Theater, where he starred in the world-premiere of The Scottsboro Boys. Ultimately Domingo would go on to earn a Tony nomination for his work with the show when it moved on to its Broadway run. Domingo’s solo play A Boy and His Soul (2009) was also produced by the Vineyard Theater.

Victor Strand has been entertaining Fear the Walking Dead fans since the start of the apocalypse when Nick Clark met Strand while being held by authorities. Domingo’s Victor Strand and Alycia Debnam-Carey’s Alicia Clark are the only two characters remaining from the beginning of the series.

In addition to his skills as a writer and as an actor, Domingo has been flexing his directing muscles after making his debut behind the Fear the Walking Dead cameras in season 4, and he’ll be returning to direct again in season 5.
