Cover analysis of The Walking Dead issue 194: Last Shot

Take a look at the cover from The Walking Dead issue 194 and check out the interesting synopsis for the August 2019 installment of the comic book series.

Since things are absolutely crazy in the world of The Walking Dead comics, it’s hard to think of anything other than what will happen in the supersized issue coming out in June. However, the comics will continue even past that time.

For example, issue 194 of the series will still arrive in August as expected no matter what happens with Rick Grimes next month. However, that doesn’t mean readers can’t look ahead to see what is going to be released.

At first glance, this kind of looks like Rick Grimes, but it definitely isn’t. In fact, the hopes that Rick Grimes lives through what happened in the May issue of the comics will have to keep strong with their fingers crossed.

The synopsis for the issue titled “Last Shot” actually reveals who this is and as well as his role:

"“Meet Sheriff Kapoor… if you dare.”"

Sheriff Kapoor. If your mind initially wandered to seeing Kelly Kapoor of The Office in a police uniform, we’re on the same page. However, the way “if you dare” is added to the introduction should lead readers to believe this man isn’t someone who will be friendly…at least not at first.

The neat Andy Warhol style artwork behind the sheriff is also compelling because it brings Kapoor to the front of the issue and highlights the detail of his face, the gun, and his uniform. As usual, this is high-quality artwork from Charlie Adlard.

Since the artwork doesn’t give much else away about what to expect from the issue, the role this character will play is still completely up in the air. But he is definitely one to look out for after readers of the comics are finally done worrying about the fate of Rick Grimes.
