The second spinoff of The Walking Dead is getting ready to start filming in Richmond, VA next month and is currently looking for people to play walkers.

AMC has not released too much information about the third television series based in the universe of The Walking Dead. The upcoming show was announced earlier this year and production on the new series is about to begin. According to WNDU the show is gearing up to film and is currently looking for people to play walkers.

The show is expected to begin filming in the Richmond, VA area next month and will film through July. That means that the new spinoff will be filming at the same time as season 10 of The Walking Dead. The upcoming series is expected to debut on AMC sometime in 2020, and it could be competing for airtime with The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead.

It hasn’t been announced when the show will air but it would be a safe bet that the AMC will continue the tradition of airing all The Walking Dead related content on Sunday nights, which means that the new spinoff will have to air during the hiatus of The Walking Dead or Fear The Walking Dead unless the network doubles up and airs two The Walking Dead shows back to back.

The new spinoff will follow two female protagonists who have come of age during the apocalypse and have no real memory of the world before. That will set it apart from both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead where the characters vividly remember what the world was like before the fall of civilization.

A New Location

Filming the spinoff in Richmond, VA will introduce a new location into The Walking Dead universe. Currently, the original series still films in and around Senoia, GA where it was filmed from the start even though the characters currently are in settlements that are located in Virginia in the show.

There is some doubt about whether or not The Walking Dead will continue to film future seasons in Georgia. Georgia’s controversial reproductive rights law has caused many production companies to say that if the law survives a court challenge and goes into effect in 2020 as scheduled, they will pull their projects out of Georgia.

Fear The Walking Dead is filmed in Austin, TX which makes the setting for Fear TWD very different from the setting in the original show but filming of the original could also be moved to Austin, TX.
