At another location, Carl is loading a wagon full of supplies in a hurry. On the road, he meets up with Lydia who accuses him of trying to sneak away without saying goodbye. The two stop for a moment on the road to talk about his actions and he says someone will meet them on the bank in five days…but not Aaron and Jesus.

Lydia says that is a three-day trip. She suggests hitting the Groves, but Carl wants to hit Springhaven to make a drop. She says “he” is never there, but Carl has noticed the supplies being dropped off are being used and someone is in the area.

Knocking on a door with a grave for Lucille outside, Carl doesn’t get a response. He still leaves a box of supplies at the doorstep and talks with Lydia how it would be nice to talk with someone who really knew Rick and didn’t sugarcoat anything.

Later, Carl and Lydia load supplies into a boat. Elias puts in a request for some wood carvings Carl makes, wanting a walrus for Lauren. Carl apologizes for not making it for her and they leave once again.

On the road, the sky is filled with birds. At one time, there were so few in the world but now a flock of them can darken the sky and block out the sun. Later that night, Carl is surprised Lydia still wears Rick’s hat, and she jokes that it is likely worth a fortune now.

Lydia offers to let Carl sleep in the tent with her, but he says Sophia wouldn’t like that too much. She says she would never know but Carl adds that Conner wouldn’t like it either. She adds that she was joking and nothing was going to happen.

The two share the tent, with Lydia joking about Carl sleeping with his eyepatch on. Carl doesn’t want to talk, but Lydia says she never made him hide his wounds and even reminded him of how she licked the wound in the past.

Carl says he doesn’t wear the eyepatch for Sophia, but for Andrea. Lydia doesn’t see that as being really honest about who he is and what his past has. But Carl disagrees. He says it represents death and the past…and the conversation is over.

At the train station, Lydia apologizes to Carl again. He says it’s okay and just wants to get the supplies on the train. At the final westward stop, the two disembark to see a massive amount of construction going on with Eugene leading up the project.
