Coming Out

Morgan warns John to stay away, but that’s not happening. He and Luciana go inside because they don’t want anyone to get hurt. As far as John is concerned this could take a while so they could use some company.

Strand and June show up with Alicia. They have the inhaler, but Tess doesn’t want to go outside. She says they should wait for her husband, and Morgan has to tell her that Ben’s not coming back. He had the medicine, but he didn’t make it back. He asks again if she could come out, but she refuses to believe that this is true. Morgan and June both understand this, as they note later on in their interviews.

Al has seen these kinds of devices overseas in war zones. She guesses that the device might not be active since he hasn’t blown up yet. John offers his knife so that Morgan can dig around it. Once it’s free, Al gives him a Swiss Army Knife so that he can unscrew the device. Before he unscrews the device Morgan says he had something planned for later that night and he’s planning on doing it.

Tess calls through and says that she watched her husband do this before. Their plan won’t work. She comes outside and says she wants to help. She understands her husband is dead and she goes down the stairs to give Morgan the pins her husband used to disarm the device.

Morgan inserts the pin, telling everyone to back up. With one final look at the group, Morgan steps off the device and runs back to everyone at the gate.

Luciana says that Tess hadn’t been outside in two years, but she did. To help Morgan. That says it all.

Soon, Tess and her son come outside and Morgan gives them the inhaler.

Morgan tells Al that you can know someone you love is gone and still not believe it. You can’t say goodbye.
