A recent commercial for the upcoming film Zombieland 2: Double Tap shows a survivor reading an issue of The Walking Dead comic book series.

The zombie genre continues to be quite popular, with shows like The Walking Dead, Black Summer, and much more allowing fans to watch at home and movies like The Dead Don’t Die, World War Z, Shaun of the Dead, and more to become insanely popular.

One of the most popular films to come out of the zombie craze has been Zombieland. The movie starring Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin is a funny flick, yet a solid horror flick on top of it.

The sequel for Zombieland is set for release on Oct. 18 and a recent advertisement for the movie has a nice nod to The Walking Dead. Check out the commercial for Zombieland 2: Double Tap as shared on the official Twitter account of Sony Pictures:

In the commercial, Columbus (played by Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg) is relaxing while reading issue 27 of The Walking Dead comics. What is interesting about that particular issue is that it is the first appearance of Brian Blake, better known as the Governor. Blake was a major antagonist in the series and is responsible for several of the most shocking and disturbing moments from the comics.

Whether or not this is an omen for a big bad on the way in Zombieland: Double Tap has yet to be seen, but it is definitely an interesting choice to be included in the movie. The fact Columbus refers to it as “terrifying but totally unrealistic” is a fun nod to the zombie genre in general and one that should give comic readers a smile.

Watch for Zombieland: Double Tap as well as season 10 of The Walking Dead this October. It should be a great month for fans of the undead, as both look to be very interesting additions to the established franchises.
