Alexandria Steps Up

Season 6, episode 9, “No Way Out”

Sonya says:

There were so many episodes and moments in season 6 that I loved it was very tough to pick a favorite. I  loved all of “The Same Boat” and thought it was a wonderful episode. Same with “Here’s Not Here”. But I think my favorite moment was in the midseason premiere. When Carl was getting treated by Denise and Rick, Michonne, and all of the residents of Alexandria, even Eugene, stepped up to fight for their community.

This moment resonated for me because as much as we all would love to think that we’d be Rick Grimes, or Michonne, most of us would probably be Eugene or Olivia in the apocalypse. But in “No Way Out” everyone stepped up and got into the fight, even the people that most people wouldn’t think of when they think of the brave warriors who fight the dead. In this episode the people who are usually shunted to the side or left in the shadows got to dig deep and find the strength to fight for their lives, for their neighbors, and for their home. It was great to see the entire community rise up against the threat of the dead.

Even though the people of Alexandria had their differences they came together when it mattered to fight for each other and for their home. And that’s really the heart of The Walking Dead.
