Daryl and Carol are playing a game of knocking down a can with acorns. They tease each other mercilessly until Carol finds a “double capper” acorn which is good luck. He keeps it. She asks about Hilltop and he says that the King sends his best. She asks about Connie, and when he gives her a look she tells him that she pays attention. He says it’s not like that, which seems to catch her off guard. He says there’s nothing between them and she says there aren’t a lot of good people out there like her. He asks why it matters and she says he can’t hide with Dog forever. He knocks the can over, and then he asks for food and watches as she gets it out of her bag. He was trying to see what she brought with her, but she grabbed her bag first.

Soon there are walkers emerging from the trees into a big field. He confirms that it’s a Whisperer.

Alpha and Beta look at Negan and Beta says that he can’t be trusted. He wants Negan killed, but she wants him tested to see if he’s worthy. If he is, then she will listen. Beta doesn’t want to show him their ways, and she points out that Beta is questioning her decisions. He says he’s only looking out for their people and she wonders if it’s time for the Beta to become the Alpha. He is shaken, and he kneels to show his allegiance. Negan notices, of course.

Later, Negan asks Beta how long he has been with her, and if it’s like a “Beta with benefits” kind of relationship. Beta threatens him for not showing her respect and Negan says he totally understand where that comes from. He used to have people kneeling for him all the time, but he has never done the kneeling before. And he loves Alpha’s bald look.

Siddiq arrives at Rosita’s house and finds her on the couch. She’s not feeling well and Gabriel is away on patrol. She definitely isn’t doing well, so Siddiq grabs her and takes her back to the infirmary.

Back in Eugene’s control room, he’s listening to static at 2pm when he was supposed to hear from Rosita. She doesn’t answer, and he’s disappointed. He knows it isn’t a radio malfunction. She’s not there.

Instead, he cranks up the power and calls out to anyone who might be listening.

Carol says the herd is getting bigger and she says that when the sun goes down it will be hard to track them. He knows she wants to cross the border, and he wants to be sure it’s not to go after Alpha. He agrees to help, but he says they need to be smart about it because they’re putting everyone at risk. She reminds him that everyone has already been at risk and they keep having to pay for what happened.

She gets up to go to the bathroom and he sees her backpack. While she’s gone he looks through it and puts it back before she gets back. She knows what he was doing, and he doesn’t look surprised that she knows he was looking for the gun. She says he can frisk her if he doesn’t believe her. He looks at her and agrees to go for it.
